We may have just bought our first home!!!

When Jordan and I first saw this home we really liked it, quickly put in an offer and then after a lot of paper work and waiting we were told that we were out bid by two other cash offers and that there was no way our offer would be accepted.

We sadly let go of the idea that we had any chance of getting the home, decided to take Memorial day weekend off from looking at homes and then start up again.  Tuesday morning we found another home, called our real estate agent to set up an appointment to go see it.

Our agent called us later that afternoon to tell us that the unthinkable had happened.  The other offers fell through and they had accepted ours!!  If we wanted it the house was ours!!

We still went to look at the other home and although we liked the house we hated the neighborhood and it was way to over priced.

Afterwards we went to walk through the home we liked again, to see how we felt and if it was the home we wanted to buy.  Before we left Jordan and I prayed that we would know if this was the home that Heavenly Father wanted us to be in.   We walked in and knew it was the house we are meant to have.
Its dirty, needs some TLC and paint but it feels right.  We told them we wanted the house.  As long as it passes inspection, its ours!!

In the meantime here is a little tour....

The front living room
Walk down the hall the kitchen is on the left.

Here is the pantry, the fridge goes in between.
(The pantry is a little different but it is a lot of storage space so I think it will work fine)
 The kitchen.
The kitchen opens into a large great room.
The great room leads into a second living room which we are going to turn into a play room.

It leads to the backyard.

Jordan's office

One of the two kids bedrooms.

The closets are weird.
Eventually we will knock down the weird shelve things and make it into normal closet.

Kids Bathroom
The second bedroom that will be the nursery.
Obviously we will be painting. ASAP
 The master bedroom

Small walk in closet
 Master bath

Our Memorial Day

Memorial day Jordan and I decided to get up early and go hiking.  We invited Brad, Lindsey and her family to come with us.

We hiked Camel back Mountain.
It was so hot!
We only hiked to the false summit and then decided to turn around.

 All of us!
After hiking we stopped at Ihop for breakfast.

Jordan and I then went home to spend the rest of our afternoon cleaning, doing laundry and running errands.  Not very fun but we had been putting it off with Vanessa in town over the weekend.

That entire day I was thinking of my brother in Afghanistan.  I am so proud of him for serving his country, keeping us safe and free.  I am constantly praying for his safety and that he will come home soon.
I love you Clay!

Family visit

Friday Jordan's sister Vanessa flew into town to visit for the weekend.
We picked her up from the airport and then drove to a BBQ to celebrate our friend Chantel's graduation from high school.

We are so proud of Chantel and can't wait to see what will happen next in her life.
She is an amazing young woman!
After the BBQ we surprised Vanessa with tickets to a Diamondbacks game.

She was a such a good sport about us dragging her to a party for a few hours where she didn't know anyone.  She really liked the baseball game and had fun at the BBQ as well.
It seemed to be a good way to start her trip.

It was such a nice day and we had amazing seats.

We are excited to have Vanessa here for a few days.  She is loving the nice weather and is thinking about moving here after she graduates from college in a few weeks.  It would be nice to have family living a little closer.

Tonight Jordan and I went to a movie screening being held by Intel.
It was a documentary about Alan Turning called 'Codebreaker'.

"This film tells this story of one of the most important scientists who ever lived. Alan Turing set in motion the digital revolution and his World War II code breaking helped save two million lives. Yet few people alive today have ever heard his name or know his story. 100 years after his birth, an international production team takes viewers on a journey to rediscover the man and the mystery."
After the movie the producer and a scientist who worked with Alan Turning answered questions from the audience. It was rather interesting.

We enjoyed the documentary and found it to be thought provoking even though we didn't agree with everything the film projected.

Our week

This has been a crazy and exciting week for us.

It started with me sewing my first bag!
I need a new church bag and loved the fabric so I found a pattern online and spent my day off of work sewing.  Unlike my amazing Mom, I am not as talented so I usually only sew with others who can help me if I get stuck.  I was a bit nervous sewing by myself but it ended up being a lot easier then I thought. The bag turned out A LOT bigger than I had planned but I figure once we have a baby it will fill up quickly.

The next day we met with our real estate agent to look at a few homes.  We started looking at houses a few weeks ago but have had a hard time finding anything close to what we want and could afford.

I found this foreclosed home online, it was a little further than we originally wanted to buy and we weren't looking at foreclosures at all but it was on a corner lot, across the street from the park and one story so we went to look at it not thinking much about it.

We loved it!

It is a three bedroom, two bathroom home with a living room, family room and two dens!  (We would use one for Jordan's office and the other as a playroom for our kids)  Tile floors, surround sound, maple cabinets in the kitchen and granite cabinets.  Being a foreclosure it has a few things we would need to fix and painting is a must!

We put in an offer that day!!
We should hear back from the bank soon if our offer was accepted.  Its a stressful but very exciting process.  We may have just bought our first home!!!!

This weekend ended up being a pretty usual Saturday for us.  I worked until noon and Jordan got up early to go hiking. After I got home we went to REI and bought some camping food and Nalgine water bottles that were on sale.

Then we decided to stop at DI and ended up finding this old school rocking chair for $10.00!  It is pretty comfortable and will go perfect in our nursery.  (I may end up painting it up but that's a DIY project for another day.)

We also picked up several books for really cheap.  Jordan and I laughed while we were buying our books at how many books we buy and read!

Saturday night Jordan and I went out to dinner and then to the park for a "city backyard birthday bash".  They had exhibits, star gazing, historic car and a BMX bike show.

They also had classic backyard games which were free to anyone who wanted to join in.  A three legged race, balloon toss and of course a pie eating contest!

After the games they had a firework show.

It was such a fun event and I was surprised at how few people were there.

We have spent most of our nights after work this week with our real estate agent, filling out and signing a lot of paperwork.  It was really nice to be outside with our neighbors having a great time.

The Avengers marathon

Jordan and I bought tickets for The Avengers marathon.  Neither one of us are big comic book fans but it sounded like it could be kind of fun and some of my coworkers were also going and talked us into getting tickets with them.

 It was six movies
The Hulk, Iron Man, Iron Man 2, Thor in 3D, Captain America in 3D and then the midnight release of
The Avengers in 3D

They gave us a gift bag when we got to the theater which included a lanyard showing we were part of the marathon (which was actually really nice so we didn't have to show our ticket every time).
Two free popcorn's a piece, a comic book, candy and our 3D glasses.

I decided to work in the morning so we missed the beginning of The Hulk and once we got there we had to try to find seats in the dark which is never fun.  As I sat down I looked over and we happened to sit next to my coworker Megan and her husband!   It made the marathon even more fun to be sitting next to friends.

Between each movie was a twenty minute break.
We ALWAYS got up to walk around so that we didn't get too stir crazy. And even with free popcorn we still wanted "real food" and ended up getting sandwiches from Jimmy Johns during one break for dinner.
With six movies in a row that's a lot of sitting and popcorn!

They also had The Avengers come in and hand out prizes between the movies and take pictures.

I was surprised at home much fun we had.  The time went by really quickly and we weren't bored during the movies that we had already seen before.

By the time The Avengers started at midnight I was so tired.  I had been up since 4:30am!  The audience was so excited (or delirious) at that point that it made the movie so much fun!  They laughed, cheered and booed the bad guy during The Avengers movie.  It was awesome!!

We got home and crawled into bed around 3:30am.
So glad I took Friday off of work and Jordan can work from home!
